The 44 Below is a secret club within the Iceberg Lounge where the rich and powerful Gothamites congregate to do Drops.[1]
History[]
Early History[]
The 44 Below was a secret club built underneath the Iceberg Lounge where Gotham’s elites would indulge in such things as Drops. The club was owned by the Falcone Crime Family.
Hangman Murders[]
Between 2002 and 2012, Carmine Falcone strangled women who worked there to death. In 2004, Selina Kyle’s mother, Maria, who worked as an escort there, was strangled to death by Carmine. She was taken away by child services, causing her to hold a longing grudge against him.
After Maria's death, Falcone began killing female workers at the club that he would have relations with. Each time he strangled them to death, and he would afterwards stage it to appear they hanged themselves.
In 2012, Summer Gleeson began investigating the murders with the Gotham City Police Department, but was later murdered by Carmine and the murders were pinned on his daughter Sofia Falcone. Oz Cobb would be made the owner of the 44 Below shortly afterwards.
