The Battle at Gotham Square Garden occurred during the flooding of Gotham, wherein the Riddler’s followers fought Batman and Selina Kyle as they attempted to assassinate newly elected Mayor Bella Reál.
History[]
Believing that Gotham will never see real change despite the election of the new mayor, the Riddler sought to assassinate Mayor Bella Reál in the chaos of the flooding of Gotham to further destroy the city. As panicked citizens swarmed Gotham Square Garden, the Riddler's followers hid in the catwalks above. Despite Lieutenant Jim Gordon's warnings, Reál refused to be evacuated to safety, instead walking onstage to try and calm the crowd. Now within their line of sight, the Riddler's followers opened fire and injured Reál, further throwing the room into disarray as Gordon dragged the mayor to cover.
Before the Riddler's followers could continue, Batman emerged through the skylight and began to take down the group. Gordon and Selina Kyle rushed to assist Batman as he was nearly overwhelmed by their firepower. Selina arrived just in time to save Batman from the last thug but was nearly choked to death before Batman intervened by taking an adrenaline-boosting drug. With the rest of the GCPD on the scene, Riddler's followers were apprehended.
