History[]
Maroni Drug Bust[]
Sometime in 2020, Salvatore Maroni and many members of the Maroni Crime Family were arrested and incarcerated at Blackgate for organized crime and drug trafficking during a sting operation.[1]
Riddler's Game[]
In 2022, William Kenzie was incarcerated at Blackgate for corruption and kidnapping Annika Kosolov, as well as being an accessory to her murder.[1] That same night, Carmine Falcone was arrested for corrupting public officials and the murder of Annika Kosolov. He would've been sent to Blackgate, but was assassinated by Riddler beforehand.[1]
Penguin's Visits[]
A week later, Oz Cobb visits Salvatore at Blackgate offering to work as a double agent to bring the Drops operation back under Maroni's control and to tear down the Falcone Crime Syndicate, but Maroni is reluctant, given that Oz previously worked against him before. Oz leaves, but returns a ring that Falcone had taken from Maroni as a sign of trust.[2]
Later on, after The Maronis are framed for murdering Alberto Falcone by Oz, he goes to visit Sal at Blackgate, Sal is accompanied by his wife Nadia, his son Taj, his capos, including Ervad Hakimi, as well as other incarcerated members. During this meeting, Oz convinces Sal and his family to go along with his plan against The Falcones.[3]
