While he was dressed as ninja for Halloween, he played with his father before going trick or treating with his mother. However, when the boy returned home with his mother, they found his father had been murdered.

At his father's funeral, the boy was saved by Bruce Wayne, who pulled him out of the path of Gil Colson's car.

During the Flooding of Gotham City, the boy was the first to trust the Batman attempting to rescue survivors.

- According to The Batman: The Official Script Book, the boy is ten years old.
- It might be subtly implied that Mitchell's son deduced that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same person, due to the blank stare that both gave him at different times.
Behind the scenes[]
- There is a fan-theory that the boy being an orphan and who dresses up in a red ninja costume is set-up for him becoming Robin. While not the intention, Matt Reeves has admired the idea of Mitchell's son evolving into an iteration of Robin.[1]
- The ninja costume he wears may be a reference to the Hand, a Marvel creation of Batman writer Frank Miller who is directly paid tribute in the film through Miller & Moore LLP. Attorneys at Law.
