The Falcone Family is an Italian-American family based in Gotham City with heavy ties to organized crime, as their patriarch Carmine Falcone was the founder and head of the Falcone Crime Family. After Carmine's death, a huge power vacuum in the underworld left his daughters Sofia Gigante and Selina Kyle as the last surviving members of his side of the family.
History[]
The Falcone Family is original of Sicily, where lived two brother: the originals Falcone Brother.
Prior to the 1960s, the two Falcone Brothers immigrated to America from Sicily, and settled down in Gotham City, New Jersey. The Brothers had affairs with many woman, thus having multiple children in the process. One of the brother's sons, Carmine Falcone, later on founded his own Mafia crime family, with other members of his family soon joining it, such as his brother Luca, who became a capo, and his cousin by marriage Johnny Viti, who became the underboss. The Family soon rose to become one of the most notorious and wealthiest families in Gotham.
Carmine was married to a woman named Isabella Gigante, whom he would end up murdering in 1994 after she attempted to leave him. Before her death, they had two children; Alberto and Sofia. After Isabella's murder, Carmine had an affair with a woman named Maria Kyle, who worked as a waitress at the 44 Below, and they had a daughter named Selena. However, like Isabella, Maria was murdered by Falcone, resulting in Selina being taken into social services and becoming the mysterious burglar Catwoman in her adulthood. The Family later created the Isabella Falcone Foundation to help women with mental health issues, which really served as a public front.
In 2012, Sofia began to question the murder of her mother. As a result, Carmine, who had murdered several women whom he had affairs with and was being investigated by the authorities for said murders, had a reporter named Summer Gleeson killed, and framed Sofia for her murder, while also planting evidence framing her for the other killings. Falcone then had other members of the Family write false statements that Sofia had a mental illness as a result of her mother's death. As a result, Sofia was arrested and sent to Arkham State Hospital, where she remained for the next decade.
After Falcone's death in 2022, the family went through a conflict over control of their empire. Alberto was the logical choice and temporarily controlled the family, but he was killed by Oz Cobb, with his death being framed on the rival Maroni Crime Family, thus sparking a gang war. The Family was then taken over by Luca.
However, Sofia, now released from Arkham, had begun scheming to take over the family with Oz, not knowing he killed her brother. After finding out that Oz killed Alberto, Sofia massacred most of her immediate family, except her cousins Johnny and Gia Viti, to gain control over their criminal empire.
Gia was then taken in by Social Services, and Sofia used Johnny to summon numerous Family operatives to her side, before killing him in front of them. Sofia then renounced her father and his family legacy, choosing to now go by her mother's maiden name of Gigante, and forming the Gigante Crime Family. However, after a war with Oz and his crew, Sofia was set up by Oz, and was sent to Arkham for her role in the Bombing of Crown Point. The Gigante Family collapsed after this, and Oz established his own crime family that filled the seat of power that once belonged to the Falcones. However, Sofia was soon after contacted by her half-sister, Selina.

Trivia[]
- Sofia Gigante and Selina Kyle are the last known living members of Carmine's father's side of the family. It is unknown what has become of his uncle's side, as numerous Falcone relatives were present at Carmine's birthday party in 2012 and Alberto's Memorial in 2022, but they aren't present when Sofia massacred her immediate family.

In DC Comics, the Falcone Family were based in Gotham and it was considered one of the most rich of all families of the city, and a prominent family of the criminal underwold. The Falcone Family made his first appearance in Gotham City history during Prohibition, when Fabrice Falcone rose to fame.[1].
A couple of generations later Vincent Falcone was the head of the family, and a rival to the Maroni family, another major crime syndicate. Vincent had two children, Carmine who would become Gotham's next Don, and Carla who married a major Chicago crime boss.
Carmine Falcone was the householder during the firts years of Batman's career as a vigilante. He was married to Luisa Falcone with whom he had three children: Mario, Sofia, and Alberto. It is also rumored that Carmine and Luisa had a fourth child who was initially going to be murdered but Luisa saved him and gave him up for adoption. That fourth child was a girl and is believed to be Selina Kyle.
Mario never married or had any children, while Sofia married gangster Rocco Gigante, with whom she had two sons: Luigi and Vincenzo. Alberto also had a daughter named Kitrina.
