Isabella Falcone (née Gigante) was the wife of Carmine Falcone, and the mother of Sofia and Alberto Falcone.

Biography[]

Marrying Carmine Falcone[]

At some point of her life, Isabella was introduced by her cousin Johnny Viti to notorious crime lord Carmine Falcone. They eventually got married and had two children, Sofia and Alberto. They raised the children in their family home outside of Gotham City. Isabella once made a home movie of Sofia and Alberto playing while they were children.[1]

However, behind the scenes, Carmine and Isabella's marriage had been declining, presumably due to his infidelity. Isabella had previously attempted to leave him, but she returned as she feared for her children.

Death[]

In 1994, Isabella had enough with Carmine and couldn’t bear being his wife anymore, so she asked Johnny to help her escape with her children. The night of March 20, while Johnny was waiting for her in his car a few blocks away, she got into a physical altercation with Carmine in their bedroom which ended with Carmine strangling her to death. He then covered up the murder by making it appear she hanged herself. Her body was later discovered by Sofia while she was playing hide and seek with Alberto.

Legacy[]

After her death, Carmine and Sofia founded the Isabella Falcone Foundation, which served to help women struggling with depression. Over the next 18 years, Carmine murdered Maria Kyle and seven other women he had affairs with by strangling them. All of them, with the exception of Maria, were staged to appear they had been hanged. Carmine would later be put under investigation for these murders happening at his club, which later compelled him to frame Sofia for the murders, due to her figuring out he killed her mother. Sofia would be sent to Arkham Hospital for ten years.

However, after Carmine was killed by Edward Nashton, Sofia was released from Arkham Hospital and sought to take over the Falcone Crime Family. After Alberto was killed by Oswald Cobb and learning that her family members aided in framing her for Carmine's murders, Sofia wiped out the Falcone Crime Family's leadership and formed the Gigante Crime Family, also changing her last name to Gigante, Isabella's maiden name.

Personality[]

Isabella was described by Sofia as "a force greater than the Falcones could ever understand", and few spoke of her after she died because of this. She deeply loved her children and wanted to take them away from their father, which ultimately led to her death.
