"Hey! Back in line! One of you is a traitor. Feeding information to the fuckin' enemy. That ends tonight. I will not tolerate a rat."
―Luca Falcone[src]

Luca Falcone was the younger brother of Carmine Falcone and the uncle of his children who became the new Head of the Falcone Crime Family after the deaths of his brother and his nephew, Alberto Falcone. Like Alberto, Luca served as boss for merely eight days before he himself was killed in the Massacre at the Falcone Mansion. He was succeeded by his niece, and murderer, Sofia Falcone, who reformed the remnants of the Family into the Gigante Crime Family.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Childhood[]

Luca and his older brother Carmine were sons of a Sicillian immigrant who came to Gotham with his brother at some point prior to the 60s. His father and uncle had multiple affairs which resulted in numerous offspring, Carmine and Luca among them.

Rise in the Mafia[]

Reaching adulthood, Carmine and Luca would pursue a career in the criminal underworld, eventually forming their own crime family. Carmine became boss of the Family, while Luca served as a Caporegime. However, unlike his brother, Luca hadn't got the same respect in the Family and had a low reputation amongst the lower ranking members.

Multiple Marriages[]

Throughout his life Luca married three times to three different women, it is unclear whether his wives died before him or were divorced, however, when he married his third wife Tina, a woman he met in Portugal,[1] she proved to be unfaithful to him and had a secret affair with Johnny Viti, the Family underboss.[2]

Framing Sofia[]

Luca and his new wife, Tina, attended Carmine's birthday party, where Luca told party guests about his story of getting a vasectomy. However, during the party, one of the Family's associates, Oswald Cobb, alerted Carmine that his daughter Sofia spoke with a reporter about the murders of some women that worked at the 44 Below.

When Carmine discovered this, he sent his daughter home, but he arranged for William Kenzie, a cop on the Family payroll, to arrest her. Then, Carmine, had their whole family, including Luca, write false reports that Sofia showed signs of mental illness after the death of her mother, Isabella.[1]

Gaining Power[]

Assassination of Carmine Falcone[]

In November of 2022, Carmine was killed by a serial killer known as the Riddler. Afterwards, Carmine's son Alberto Falcone was chosen as the new Don of the Family, as opposed to Luca.

Return of Sofia Falcone[]

Not long after Carmine's death, Sofia was released from Arkham and placed under Alberto's care. Luca and the rest of the Family were secretly scared, as they feared Sofia wanted revenge for their betrayal of her.

Death of Alberto Falcone[]

A week after Carmine's death, Alberto was killed and his body was stuffed in the trunk of a car that crashed on the Falcone Estate. The Family were led to believe that the Maroni Crime Family was responsible, as revenge for Falcone ratting out on their Drops operation and putting their head, Salvatore Maroni, in Blackgate for life.

As a result of his nephew's death, Luca was brought in as the new Don.

Personality[]

Unlike his cold and calculating older brother, Luca is overly dramatic and aggressive in his demeanor, as seen during Family meetings and when conducting business with his associates. He is viewed as a coward and fool by even the lower ranking members of the Family, such as Penguin. His handling of the supposed traitor in the Family also highlights his desperation to be taken seriously as the boss, as he chooses to kill him it right there in front of everyone.[2]

Luca enjoyed living with luxuries and didn't mind showing off his status, having fancy suites, expensive cars, and shiny watches. Like his older brother and his nephew, Luca has a weakness for beautiful women, especially if they are young, having previously married two other women, and eventually marrying Tina, who cheated on him with Falcone Underboss Johnny Viti for years, further highlighting his lack of respect among the Family.

Despite the little respect many show behind his back, Luca had grown to be somewhat feared by other Family members due to his ruthless tendencies.
