Nadia Maroni was the wife of incarcerated mob boss Salvatore Maroni, and the underboss of the Maroni Crime Family.

Early Life[]

Hailing from Iran, Nadia moved to Gotham City, where she met and married Italian mob boss Salvatore Maroni, with whom she had a son, Taj. During their marriage, Nadia taught her husband her family recipes, as she hoped they would continue passing them on through their family generations.
When her husband was imprisoned in 2020 in a sting operation to place Salvatore's longtime rival Carmine Falcone in power, Nadia become the de facto-leader of the Maroni Crime Family, since Salvatore influence was limited to the prison.
Penguin's War[]
Meeting at Blackgate Penitentiary[]
After Alberto Falcone's murder was pinned on The Maronis, Nadia, along with Taj and their capos, went to Blackgate for a meeting between her husband and the Penguin, who actually murdered Alberto.

However, the sudden return of Victor Aguilar running over one of their capos and Penguin shot one of them and punched Taj and escaped.

She then went back to her husband and found out Penguin had kidnapped Taj Maroni and demanded her to return the Bliss. Nadia strongly objected to the decision, but Sal convinced her that they will save Taj and kill Oz in the process.
Exchange Turned Fatal[]
The night arrives when Penguin returns Taj Maroni in exchange for the Bliss, however, Maroni sets up an ambush but her men are killed instantly. As her son walks to her tied, unknowingly her son is doused in gasoline, Penguin drops his lighter and the flame approaches them, burning them both.
Personality[]
Nadia was a very intelligent and observant woman, with a presence that commands respect. Her husband trusted her so much that he made her his underboss when he was locked up, instead of one of his men.
Although she believed that it was possible to control Penguin, Nadia knew he was up to something and ordered him to be watched, which led to the discovery that he was planning to promote a new drug that would override the drops he gave them.

- Bilingualism: Nadia was fluent in English and Farsi. She could switch languages to discreetly speak about others with her husband, who understands Farsi.
