"I think you could be doing more. I don't know if you're aware, but a young woman named Yolanda Jones committed suicide last week. There's actually been a number of women like Ms. Jones over the last decade, and they all died the same way, by hanging. Which... that's how your mother died if I'm not mistaken."
―Summer Gleeson to Sofia Falcone[src]

Summer Gleeson was a reporter for the Gotham Gazette who tried to get Sofia Falcone's help her with her investigation into the murders of several women, only to be murdered herself by Carmine Falcone.

Investigation Female Murders[]

In 2012, the GCPD began an investigation into a series of suicides by hanging of female employees at the 44 Below, the nightclub within the Iceberg Lounge, owned by mafia don Carmine Falcone. Summer Gleason joined their investigation.

Through her investigation, she began to realize the victims showed signs of fighting back, and the bruises on their necks implied they were strangled to death, rather than by hanging.

Meeting with Sofia Falcone[]

Gleason approached Falcone's daughter Sofia Falcone at a charity event for the Isabella Falcone Foundation. She tells Sofia about the recent death, Yolanda Jones, and brings up how most of the victims were employees for her father's club. Sofia leaves, feeling uncomfortable with the questions after finding out she was with the press, and Summer is told off by Sofia's driver Oz Cobb.

Later on, Sofia meets with Summer on the outskirts of the city. She shows the police evidence, and explains the suspicious details of the deaths. She then asks Sofia for access to all the employees at her father's club who could potentially be killed next. Realizing her father most likely killed her mother Isabella when she was a child, Sofia angrily threatens Summer if she ever comes near her again and leaves.

Murdered by Carmine Falcone[]

Later on, Falcone heard from William Kenzie, a narcotics detective on his payroll, that Gleason and the police were investigating him for murder. Falcone killed Summer, and hanged her body for the police to find. He also planted evidence that linked Sofia to Gleason and the other women's murders, thus framing her for his crimes.
